That being said, your article is flawed in that it demands the right for WRC to exist while simultaneously decrying the fact that our school newspaper is dominated by a contradictory, or opposing point of view. Unless the paper is evidently denying feminists or liberal students to contribute articles, then the problem does not lie within the paper, but within the student body. Perhaps it is “unfortunate that on a left-leaning, predominantly female campus” the majority views are not represented. However, I think it’s imperative that the minority views, however abrasive and vulgar they may be, still have an avenue for expression. It forces students to hone their own beliefs and voices. Furthermore, if you ever wish to challenge an op-ed, you should write and op-ed yourself. It can be done and maybe if it was done more often by the women’s rights supporters, the student body would be better infomred as to the initiatives of the WRC and subsequently more inclined to rally about their cause. Adam, men like you give all men a bad name and it is shameful. The FBI holds false report statistics at between 2 and 6% and that DOES include pre-trial findings. That is the exact same false report rate as any violent crime. And if anyone wishes to see the study, I have the citations readily available. I try, in all cases, to back up what I say. With 1 in 4 college women becoming the survivors of a completed act of sexual assault (rape) in her lifetime, we cannot afford to hear the lies and violence supporting rhetoric of those who wish to condemn women who have done nothing wrong. While you drag your knuckles on the issues of gender equality and anti-violence, the law has said that any person who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol is physically helpless or mentally incapacitated and thus unable to consent.
